2014 03 30 atwood homestead forest preserve

Fran and Wilma and I have come here several times before just to drive though. Today we decided to walk around. Most of this preserve is taken up by the golf course. There is a small section between the river and the RR tracks that is a more traditional forest preserve. Not much in the way of trails so we just walked around mostly. We have seen turkeys here before and saw some again. The last 30 seconds of the video is some turkeys we saw as we were leaving.

Wilma and I went for a walk yesterday. We stuck mostly to a paved path as some scouting had shown that most of the trails in the woods are pretty icy and probably no fun to walk on, and unsafe to boot. We did walk on some unpaved trails that were out in the open and Wilma got to play in the spring.

Lots of birds out. I got a good picture and some video of a cardinal and a bald eagle.

Bald eagle seen along the Kishwaukee River 3-29-14

Wilma and I went for a walk yesterday. We parked in Kishwaukee River FP and walked up the bike path along the river. We saw lots of birds. I got some good pictures of this bald eagle. He was sitting in a tree across the river from the bike path. I have seen them before but this is the first one who cooperated in having his picture taken.

Got a good picture of this cardinal too.

Lots of  geese on the river too. Probably Canada goose.

Riverside Park 3-16-14

Riverside Park is a Village of Roscoe park located along the Rock River. It has a nice gravel road one can walk along. It is not a very long walk, about 1.3 miles according to Base Camp.

Wilma and I have come here several times before. Fran and I have driven through the park a couple of times. One time I got some video of a couple of fawns.

Lots of wind noise.
