[added 5-8-12] The ILDNR web site does not have a trail map posted. I got a park brochure at the visitor center and scanned it. There are no roads other than the driveway into the parking lot by the visitor center. Most of the land there has no obvious trails, but hunting is allowed during archery deer season in virtually the entire area and there are designated parking areas for the 9 hunting zones, so presumably there is not an issue with just wandering around. There is a lot of wet and marshy areas, so it may not be real easy to do much wandering off trail.

Volo Bog State Natural Area 5-5-12
On our way back from a birthday party we stopped to scope out some potential hiking venues. The first is a state natural area that is some kind of bog not far from where we went to visit. Not much there other than bog and trails. Good sized place, with maybe 5 miles of trails. Most of it has no trails at all. It seems like a long ways to go for such a small trail system. Maybe we can combine it with a trip that includes some trails elsewhere. There is a 1/2 mile long floating boardwalk that loops out into the bog Wilma is not allowed on but dogs are allowed on the rest of the trails. We come this way pretty regularly so maybe next time we come through I will just walk the short loop by myself.
If you look close at the very end of the video you will see a photo that skips by very quickly. This is something the video editor I use does when the last clip is an image as opposed to a video. So, I posted the picture seperate as it was not worth the time for me to remake the video.
