2011-11-14 Distillery Road Conservation Area

It appears there is a set of high tension electric lines that start about 200 yards NW of the set shown on the park map heading about the same way parallel but that then take a path due west. When I first saw them and saw they were more or less oriented the same way the electric lines on the map are shown, at first I thought the map had them on the wrong side of the river. Eventually it dawned on me that there had to be another set of lines. And a quick look at google maps satellite view confirmed it today. I am not sure if they are in the park or just outside the park along the northern edge. I have shown them in red.

The map does not show them but there was a porta-potty at the parking lot and some doorless outhouses on the bluff above the primitive camping area we stopped by.

There is a bit of a maze of mowed paths up in the NE corner of the park. It appears most are for the benefit of abutting landowners. The boundaries do seem to be marked in most places, but some places it is not real clear along the edges just where you are, and the maze makes following the trail map difficult in places. plus there are the usual assortment of trails not on the map. There is at least one trail segment shown on the map along the river between the river and the gravel road near the parking lot that does not actually exist.

We did just about 5 miles in 3.25 hours. A leisurely pace with plenty of time for river visits for Wilma.
