2013_04_21 Blackhawk Springs Forest Preserve Hike

Wilma and I were planning to park at Kishwaukee River Forest Preserve and walk north along the Kishwaukee River Recreational Path but the preserve was closed due to flooding. So we went up to the Mulford Road entrance to Blackhawk Springs and parked there.

We went south along the bike path along the west side of the preserve until we got to a part where it was closed due to flooding. The river was quite high and there was a lot of fast water.

We took the bike path east. Basically everything to the south of the bike path down to the river was flooded. The bike path along the east side of the preserve was clear other than a couple of inches of water for about 30 feet so we took it and walked to the parking lot at the se corner of the preserve and then came back.

The trails north of the bike path seemed unaffected. We have been on them before. It was a nice day for a hike.

Lots of other people and dogs out as well.
