BOOK ONE in the NEW AMERICA series.

What would it take for the United States to fall from within? In a not too distant future, America is put to the test. With the American people deep in The Second Great Depression and two of the most powerful hurricanes on record to contend with, the United States is in no condition to deal with hidden terrorists on its soil, maniacal politicians, and the most formidable military threat the world has seen since the Third Reich.

This is the story of three men from three very different walks of life: Howard Beck, the world's richest man, also diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome; Richard Dupree, ex-Navy SEAL turned escaped convict; and Maxwell Harris, a crippled, burned-out chief of police of a small Texas town. At first, they must overcome their own struggles and fight for their survival against impossible odds. In the end, the unlikely trio must band together to save their beloved country from COLLAPSE.

Empires topple. Nations crumble. Civilization is fragile. In 2027, America will fall.

BOOK TWO in the New America series, entitled "Resistance" is slated for a summer 2013 release. Sneak peek is available now on Smashwords.

**This edition has been reformatted and further edited from the original release.

Locked Up In La Mesa

In the freewheeling '70s, La Mesa Penitentiary was a prison unlike any other, a colorful little pueblo on the east side of Tijuana that was home to the worst criminals imaginable—and their entire families. Everything was controlled by the inmates, and the world they created was a bizarre reflection of the one they'd left behind:

There was a bustling business district complete with stores and restaurants, a prison laundry staffed by transvestite hookers and a babysitting service run by a schizophrenic murderer. Weekend fiestas brought drunken partiers to the prison, along with masked wrestlers and strolling mariachis. La Mesa at the time was both a deadly powder keg and a nonstop party, a temple of vice where the inmates had better guns than the guards—a place where anything could happen.

"Locked Up In La Mesa" is the true story of Steve Peterson, a young California surfer dude caught smuggling pot in the hills outside Tijuana. In thirty-four short stories of black humor and bittersweet humanity, Steve, together with writer Eldon Asp, recalls his hilarious adventures and scary close calls inside the most notorious prison in Mexico...

Churchill's Sacrifice of the Highland Division: France 1940

On 12 June 1940, more than a week after the last British troops had been evacuated from Dunkirk, the 51st (Highland) Division was forced to surrender to General Erwin Rommel's 7th Panzer Division at St Valery-en-Caux.

More than 10,000 members of the Division were driven into five years of captivity in prison camps.

It was one of the most dramatic incidents of the early phase of WWII.

Drawing upon over 100 personal interviews with survivors of the battle, upon unit war diaries, personal letters and journals, as well as official documents and reports, the leading military historian Saul David traces the story of the Highland Division from its arrival in France, through the excitement of patrol operations in front of the Maginot Line and its magnificent defensive battles on the Somme and the Bresle, to the final, desperate stand in the little Norman seaport of St Valery.

'Churchill's Sacrifice' is a book that will fascinate anyone interested in WWII.

Saul David is Professor of War Studies at the University of Buckingham and the author of several critically acclaimed history books, including The Indian Mutiny: 1857 (short-listed for the Westminster Medal for Military Literature), Prince of Pleasure: The Prince of Wales and the Making of the Regency, Zulu: The Heroism and Tragedy of the Zulu War of 1879 (a Waterstones Military History Book of the Year) and, most recently, Victoria's Wars: The Rise of Empire. He has also written two best-selling historical novels set in the wars of the late 19th Century, Zulu Hart and Hart of Empire. An experienced broadcaster, he has presented and appeared in history programmes for all the major TV channels and is a regular contributor to Radio 4.

'A well-researched history’ The Times

'David proves conclusively that Churchill allowed the Highlanders to be cut off’ Scotland on Sunday

'David does full justice to this “forgotten piece” of history’ Military Illustrated.

The Counterinsurgency Challenge: A Parable of Leadership and Decision Making in Modern Conflict

One of the world's premier practitioners challenges conventional wisdom about counterinsurgency, using a powerful parable to help leaders develop the mental agility to be successful. In the tradition of military classics such as The Defence of Duffer's Drift, Kolenda's book illustrates the urgent need for military leaders to rethink how they fight contemporary conflicts. It reads like a thriller, with a cast of vivid characters, even as it puts forward a bold approach to effective counterinsurgency operations and makes a compelling case for change. Avoiding checklists and formulas, it teaches leaders how to think and how to develop the mental courage to learn, adapt, and make decisions in the face of a deadly and resilient enemy. An innovative tool for developing in peacetime the mental agility and adaptability our leaders need in combat.

That's Not What They Meant About Guns!

FROM THE AUTHOR OF THAT'S NOT WHAT THEY MEANT! RECLAIMING THE FOUNDING FATHERS FROM AMERICA'S RIGHT WING! This follow-up single is a common-sense discussion of gun rights, gun control, and the often-diverging views of America's Founding Fathers. Acknowledging that the Constitution enshrines a clear and undeniable right to self-defense, and arguing that some limitations on this right have always existed, Austin charts a thoughtful and moderate course through the clashing absolutes that have dominated the gun-control debate for a generation.

The Brigade: The Fifth Canadian Infantry Brigade in World War II (Stackpole Military History Series)

Consisting of the Calgary Highlanders, the Black Watch, and the French-speaking Régiment de Maisonneuve, the 5th Canadian Infantry Brigade landed in France in early July 1944 as part of British General Bernard Montgomery s 21st Army Group. That summer, the brigade participated in hellish battles in Normandy, including Caen and Verrières Ridge. The 5th went on to distinguish itself in Belgium, where it endured foul weather and fierce resistance near Antwerp in October 1944, and ended the war with bloody streetfighting in the towns of Holland.
