Rock Cut State Park 4-20-13

We parked at the north lot by the route 173 entrance and went in on the multi-purpose dirt trail. It was a bit muddy, but Wilma likes mud, and I had my boots on so we got past it. At Puri Crest we headed west past the campground and continued on Hart Road to the horse camp.

On Hart Road just before getting the the horse camp we ran across a couple of kids who were lost and wanted directions to the park entrance by the beach. I pointed to the orange gate and told them that was the main park road and to hand a right there and follow it to the end where the Harlem Road Entrance is not far from the beach. I warned them it was a 3 or 4 mile hike.

We then entered the horse camp and walked up a horse trail to the power lines. Pretty wet. Lots of fairly deep ruts from water running down the trails. We saw signs several places noting the horse and mountain bike trails were closed due to the unusual weather conditions.

When we got back to the car we saw the two lost hikers. I guess they really did not want to go to the entrance by the beach after all.
