Black Flagged

Book One of the Black Flagged series.

A graduate of the Department of Defense's experimental Black Flag program, Daniel Petrovich carries secrets he'd rather keep buried. Secrets his government has hidden in the deepest vaults of the Pentagon. Unfortunately for Daniel, someone is trying to raise Black Flag from the dead and bring Daniel back with it. Someone who knows all of his darkest secrets.

In exchange for the promise of a clean slate and a chance to keep the life he has built with the woman he loves, he agrees to carry out one final mission.

Daniel's life is about to disintegrate, as he becomes the focus of a relentless FBI manhunt and the target of a vengeful CIA agent. To survive, he'll be forced to release a dark side he fought for years to keep suppressed. A dark side with few boundaries, and even fewer loyalties.

[120 4 and 5 star reviews. I bought this book a while back. I liked it and gave it 4 stars. It has a lot of action in it. Kind of far fetched in some places, but good fun. I mentioned some minor issues to it and the author and I had a subsequent email exchange. He sent me a signed copy of his book. He has made it into a good series.]

The Hit - Free Preview (first 8 chapters)

From David Baldacci--#1 bestselling author and one of the world's most popular, widely read storytellers--comes the most thrilling novel of the year.
THE HIT
Will Robie is a master of killing.
A highly skilled assassin, Robie is the man the U.S. government calls on to eliminate the worst of the worst-enemies of the state, monsters committed to harming untold numbers of innocent victims.
No one else can match Robie's talents as a hitman...no one, except Jessica Reel. A fellow assassin, equally professional and dangerous, Reel is every bit as lethal as Robie. And now, she's gone rogue, turning her gun sights on other members of their agency.
To stop one of their own, the government looks again to Will Robie. His mission: bring in Reel, dead or alive. Only a killer can catch another killer, they tell him.
But as Robie pursues Reel, he quickly finds that there is more to her betrayal than meets the eye. Her attacks on the agency conceal a larger threat, a threat that could send shockwaves through the U.S. government and around the world.

[Sort of a preview of the whole book to be released in a couple of weeks.]

Columbus: Flight (Project Columbus)

In the near future, bitter nuclear conflict has brought the world to the brink. As the United States begins to lose control of its territory to foreign invaders, Dr. David Benedict launches six thousand refugee colonists using three sleeper ships from Project Columbus, a decades-old government exploration venture. Their destination: Demeter, a suspected habitable planet orbiting a nearby star. Yet the launch is only the beginning of their perilous journey. When a divisive conspiracy surrounding Project Columbus is discovered, members of each crew must face the fallout. Lt Haruka Kimura, a navigator on one of the ships, must defend herself against accusations stemming from her father’s treason. Eighteen year old Cal McLaughlin struggles to reconcile why his own father would make the ultimate sacrifice and send him to the stars, completely alone. Computer specialist Lt Darius Owens is thrust into the uncomfortable role of peacemaker when the arrest of the conspirators induces discord in the ranks. But when a young crew member dies in stasis, they must work to stave off threats that could kill every innocent man, woman, and child aboard the ships.

[The reviews are kind of mixed, so it is hard to tell much about the book. Many more 4 and 5 star reviews than lesser ones though.]
