We drove from Rotary FP to this location by heading north on Mulford Road. This entrance is on Mulford Road. It appears to be the driveway shown on the park map as the SE Area maintanance shop. I don't know if the sign means you cannot hike in this area, or just not drive up the driveway. My guess is you are allowed to hike there, as they do not seem to ban hiking anywhere. They probably don't want people around the shop area, but I suspect out in the forest they don't care.
This is the sign at the Mulford Road entrance to the part of the preserve on the east side of the river. The preserve straddles both sides of the river.
These geese were next to an island out in the river.
We did not see much in the way of hiking opportunities on this side of the preserve. Not much shown on the park map in the way of hiking on the east side of the river other than the maintanance trail. It seems to be the only way to access some of the area in the preserve to the south along the east side of the river. It looks like forest so one might well be able to get around in there even if there are no trails.
