Roland Olson Forest Preserve 12-7-11

A nice easy hike. Not much grade change. Level trails. 2.9 miles in about an hour and 40 minutes. A fairly typical leisurely pace for us. It was cold enough when we left the house that I wore my long johns.

No idea what the "No music" rule mentioned on the preserve map is about.

The GPS map shows an "intermittant" stream in the far NE corner of the preserve. I did not see any easy way to get there so we did not look for it. Maybe next time.

Note that north is to the left on this sign. I think CC is cross country. It appears the local high school uses it for that purpose. This sign is near the entrance.

The Stone Bridge and Long Praire Trails converge at the far SE corner of this preserve. Unfortunately, the short chunk of video I shot of the LPT did not come out well enough to post.

ETA 12-12-11:
This is one of the preserves with numbered trail markers that are not shown on the trail map. It appears the trail markers have been added for the benefit of the high school cross country runners, which may explain why they are not on the park map.
