PLEASE. Do everyone a favor and write an Amazon review if you end up reading a book (or trying to and giving up in disgust). It does not have to be much. Just tell what you think of the book.

SETUP ON FRONT STREET (Key West Nocturnes series)
Key West, 1991. Don Roy Doyle is back in town. Tough and quick-witted, he's fresh out of prison, where he served three years for a diamond swindle. Now he's back to collect his share of the proceeds, about $200,000, but the money has vanished.

A local family dynasty which has controlled the island's politics for generations, a cop with a grudge, the FBI, and the Russian mob all have a stake in the action. They're convinced Cuba is on the verge of "opening up", and they all want Doyle gone.

In this tightly-knit town, who can be trusted? And how long can Doyle stay alive?

SETUP ON FRONT STREET is the first novel in Mike Dennis' Key West Nocturnes series. It takes you deep inside the world of Key West noir, a world tucked way back in the shadows, where the tourists never go.

Singularity
[Back for a 3rd day at #31.]

The Insiders
Thrill, suspense, conspiracy, mystery, corporate corruption, and more clash in this new brand of thriller by New York Times bestselling author Craig Hickman. Untainted by political, journalistic, or legal manipulation and uncorrupted by fear or threat of retribution, The Insiders enthralls you with an alarming tale of how corrupt CEOs, secret societies, corporate deceit, domestic espionage, murder for hire, and cunning manipulation are destroying the American dream, influencing our daily lives, and reshaping global society.

Wilson's father, Charles Fielder, one of the richest men in the world, has just murdered two women and tried to kill himself. Or did he? Lying in a coma, Charles cannot help his only son understand the mysteries of his life nor his role in founding an exclusive club of the world's most powerful CEOs--the ultimate insiders club with unparalleled perks. Wilson must face this cutthroat world of concealed machinations, corporate espionage, international finance, and economic conspiracy on his own--in order to uncover his father's real agenda, expose the secret society of insiders, and fight to change the face of capitalism. That is, if he can stay alive.

Take a plunge into this dangerous and deceitful world of the rich, the famous, and the powerful. Witness the unholy alliances between business and government and the real forces behind our recent financial crisis. The Insiders is a heart-pounding tale full of twists and turns and eye-opening revelations that will make your adrenaline rush last until the very end.

Sometimes, the truth can only be told through fiction...

[#57. This was free back in January. I got it then but never got around to looking at it.]

A Line in the Sand (The American War)
The year is 2031. The US military has been gutted by an increasingly powerful and isolationist government after a series of unpopular and internationally condemned wars. Lieutenant Colonel Reese Sterling, a veteran of the conflicts in Afghanistan and Iran, has been falsely imprisoned after tragedy occurs during a botched raid in his home. He is sent to the infamous Ridgeway Prison on trumped up charges, and while incarcerated, meets a mysterious man who has a plan for freedom. Across the country, a popular US President is assassinated, along with a high-ranking member of the Chinese military. Sterling manages to escape from prison, only to find that he is the man being hunted as the presidential assassin. Balancing his desire for revenge against the need to clear his name, Sterling must take on a conspiracy of global proportions that threatens to bring the very foundations of the nation crashing down. When war on American soil for the first time in over 150 years seems imminent, the fugitive officer must make a brutal choice; to fight against the government he had sworn an oath to protect, or do nothing and see the country torn apart.

[#85. This was also free back in December. I got it then, started reading it and never finished. Don't recall much about it other than it seemed kind of far fetched. I didn't write a review on it so I probably intended to go back to it and just never got around to doing so. It was on the AR15.com free book list thread 5-10-13 and has since managed to make it to the top 100 free list.]

The Joke, Tesla, and Lycan stuff is still free but I am not going to clutter up my posts with them anymore. You can look at my 5-12-13 post for links to them if interested.
