Free Kindle Books 5-31-13

PLEASE. Do everyone a favor and write an Amazon review if you end up reading a book (or trying to and giving up in disgust). It does not have to be much. Just tell what you think of the book. By the way, most of the time I have found the 1 and 2 star reviews on self published works to be far more revealing about the book than the more stellar reviews.

From the top 100 free list
I did not list any of them since they don't interest me much, but there are still several religious oriented books on the list today that some might be interested in. Click on the link above and search through the Free List Tab if you are interested in such books.

Haunted House - A Novel of Terror
[#4. 2nd day on the list. From an author who is on the top 100 free list quite regularly. Might have been on the list previously. I vaguely seem to remember it.]

Sagebrush
Still half asleep, Michael looked up at his parents sitting on the buckboard of their covered wagon and saw an arrow penetrate his father's chest. Then he saw his mother being dragged from the wagon by two Indians. His mother fell from the wagon and disappeared from his sight and from his life forever. Now he was all alone.

[#8. Based on the distribution of reviews, this may well be one of those books you either really like or can't stand.]

Bloody Mary - A Thriller (Jack Daniels Mysteries)
[#10. From an author who is on the top 100 free list quite regularly. 4th day.]

A Pitch for Justice
Phillies' rookie pitcher Tim Charles anguishes over his manager's order to retaliate against a Mets' batter for the team's honor. He throws a high inside pitch that crashes off the batter's head, but no one can foresee the unthinkable consequences.
Tim becomes the target of a grand jury investigation for murder when an avenging widow pressures officials to prosecute. A baseball feud between the Mets and the Phillies ignites into a shocking and suspenseful criminal drama played out in the courts.
Veteran prosecutor Jaime Brooks faces his toughest challenge when he collides with Tim's defense team in this unchartered task. Brooks confronts a possible criminal conspiracy among team members, an uncompromising widow hell bent on getting justice at any cost, corruption in the grand jury, and a national furor over the inherent risks of baseball versus the accountability of its players to society's laws.
Not only is Tim Charles on trial for his life, but the very nature of baseball is at stake as the jury views and hears the emotional evidence.

[#14. Good premise. I have often thought some of the stuff that goes on in sports is close to criminal and wondered why it is never investigated that way.]

Afterglow (Brotherhood of the Blade Trilogy #2)
[#54. 2nd day. The first book in this series was free last month. I have not gotten around to looking at it. The "editor" of the book is an author who is regularly on the list.]
